Stranded in Montgomery,Al

As we were heading towards New Orleans, a truck driver honks his horn and tells us there is smoke coming out of the rear of the rig. We immediately stopped and got out. It turns out we had a fuel injector leak, so there was diesel leaking on the muffler, which made the smoke the driver saw. After a few hours on the phone, we were sent to a Cummins (engine) shop that was only 2 miles away. That was a good thing, because there was some sort of mess up with our insurance, and the tow service people said we would have to pay to have it towed. Since it was so close, we crossed our fingers, and drove it (praying all the way).
Of course, the one part they needed to fix it had to be ordered, and because it was 4:30 pm on July 3rd, we would have to wait until the 5th for them to order it, and then the 6th to get the RV back.
So, we found a hotel and spent the next three days checking out Montgomery. We learned that this was the capital of the Confederation, among other facts.
On the fourth of July, we saw a wonderful fireworks display over the river just outside our bedroom window, which was very nice and comfortable. Not bad for our last minute change of plans.
